For the past four years, South of the River has been entertaining groups at fairs and festivals across West Virginia and Ohio with their unique mix of country and southern rock. The band has enjoyed a lot of success and has had the privilege of opening for Nashville country stars Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll, Randy Houser, Bucky Covington and are scheduled to open for Jimmy Wayne in July, Cletus T. Judd, Little Texas, and Brett Eldridge in August.



South of the River Band is made up of lead singer Tarah Marie, Adam Spaur, Austin Clark, Thomas Eaton, and Zac Windland.

Lead singer and rhythm guitar player Tarah Marie is a 2007 graduate of Wahama High School in Mason, WV and is 22 years old. She has been performing since the age of 5 and brings strong vocals, enthusiasm, and love for music to the band. She has won numerous vocal competitions and was the 2008 Colgate Country Showdown WV State winner. Tarah has opened for Jake Owen, Ken Mellons, and Joe Nichols. She not only enjoys singing and performing but loves to fish and ride 4 wheelers.

Adam Spaur is a recent 2011 Graduate at Parkersburg South High School and is 18 years old. He plays percussion for the band. He started playing when he was in the 5th grade. Adam loves to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors with family and friends when not playing the drums. He also loves to watch football, Nascar, and college basketball.

Austin Clark is a recent 2011 Graduate at Parkersburg South High School and is 18 years old. He plays lead guitar and sings lead and back up vocals. Austin started playing instruments when he was in the 4th grade. Austin loves music in general and always carries an acoustic guitar with him everywhere he goes. He has a very good sense of humor and says that he is the “Rebel” of the group. He likes snakes, big dogs, riding horses, and riding his motorcycle.

Thomas Eaton is a recent 2011 Graduate at Parkersburg South High School and is 18 years old. He plays bass guitar. He mainly plays guitar but also played the drums from 5th grade until the end of his 9th grade year. He got his first guitar when he was in the 7th grade. Thomas will be attending WVUP this fall. When not playing the guitar, he likes to fish, hunt, and hang out with his friends. He likes just about any type of music except rap.

Zac Windland is a 2003 Parkersburg South graduate and is 25 years old. He plays rhythm guitar and sings lead and back up vocals. Zac is married to Rachel Windland and has a son named Jason. He began playing guitar and singing at the age of 18 years old. Shortly after, he joined the band Lost Run and played several shows around the Parkersburg area. Zac graduated from Washington State Community College in 2008 with a degree in Automotive Technology. He currently works at Berdine’s Auto Service in Marietta, Ohio. Zac enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and camping. His likes of music range from classic rock to classic country.

With musical influences that range from Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert to Lynyrd Skynyrd, the opportunity to showcase their varied musical interests has led to a renewed excitement about performing.
